Botswana is a landlocked country in Southern Africa, bordering Namibia to the West and North, Zimbabwe to the East, and South Africa to the South. Landscapes are breath-taking in Botswana. The Okavango Delta is a magical oasis – there is nothing comparable on earth. It is a place of unparalleled beauty, where a magnificent range of wild animals roam and rule and live freely together in one of the world’s last great wildernesses. When you travel through the delta you can observe the African bush elephant, African buffalo, hippo, lechwe, topi, blue wildebeest, giraffe, Nile crocodile, lion and cheetah, leopard, antelope, black and white rhinoceros, and plans zebra.
This delta really is a perfect example of abundance – for the quantity of animals, for the birdlife and the variety of species of Biblical proportions. To be exact, there are 530 species of birds, 160 species of mammals, 155 species of reptiles, 35 species of amphibians and 1500 plant species.
The Chobe National Park is famous for having Africa’s largest single concentration of elephants, while the Moremi Game Reserve is renowned for its exceptional birdlife and is considered to be one of the finest areas to view big cats in Africa. Also, one should not miss an exploration of the stark and dramatic landscapes of the Kalahari Desert, the largest unbroken stretch of sand on our planet. It isn’t an average and ordinary desert. Indeed, from the stark lunar terrain of Makgadikgadi, the baobabs of Nxai Pans, and the spare magnificence of Kubu Island in the North, to the wonderful wildlife of Kgalagadi in the South, it is a desert of exceptional variety.
